FAQ

What is parent coaching?

Parent coaching is a skillful and supportive process that helps you parent to your best ability, by helping you understand your relationship with your child(ren) and providing the tools for positive change.

Why parent coaching?

Because living in today’s world makes parenting much more complicated and demanding. Parent coaching helps you learn skills, strategies and perspectives that best meet your child(ren’s) development and also support you to be a confident, consistent and contented parent.

It is the only parent coaching certification program in the nation affiliated with a university. The PCI Parent Coaching Model® is an evidence-based process designed to help you experience successful parenting.

Is parent coaching like therapy?

No, Parent coaching is not like therapy. Parent coaching focuses on your present situation and guides you to achieve the positive changes you want for your family.

How does parent coaching work?

Parent coaching is a co-creative, equal partnership where your strengths, integrity and values serve as the platform and spring -board for positive change. Coaching helps to clarify the changes you want to make for your family– so that together, we can co-create the steps necessary to make your goals a reality and develop strategies for maintaining what you achieve.

How long does it take?

The amount of time you devote to parent coaching depends upon what you want to accomplish and your level of active participation to reach your goals. It typically takes a minimum of 12 sessions to develop and utilize a process for lasting results; a vital commitment for the family dynamics you want.

What age children do you work with?

I don’t work with children, I work with parents because parenting is about parents, not children. I have worked with parents of pre-schoolers to tweens, teens and young adults. My clients typically have one or more school-aged children.
