What makes you smile about being a parent? February Smile Button

Smile Button

We always talk about things or people “pushing our buttons.” Well here’s a button we could all use–a smile button! So, what makes you smile about being a parent?

Here’s my smile button for February:
I love the silly words my kids have created.

The Story: One of my favorite kid words was coined one morning while we were frantically looking for the ever-so-frustrating lost shoe. My 4 year old daughter at the time dramatically announced with hands on her hips, “Well, I guess it’s just miskappeared”! We all enjoyed a good smile about how in her mind her shoe was both missing and disappeared! And so, even today as adults we still use her word…miskappeared when necessary!

  1. This is not so much an invented word as it is a mispronunciation–but my daughter used to say “gabloon” and “gamote” instead of “balloon” and “remote.” It used to make us crack up–we still use her pronunciations to this day–and it STILL makes everyone smile!
